First ER Trip

Wow! What a crazy weekend we had. It started out a sweet Saturday morning we had breakfast and went for a walk as a family. When we got back the girls were running around playing and then I heard Mackenzie scream from the other room. I ran in to find her on the floor next to Madison's bunk beds crying. Madison and Mackenzie had been playing on the bunk beds (like they have been told 5 million times not to) and Mackenzie fell off the ladder. For forty five minutes she was inconsolable. We called and talked to my dad and had our neighbors come over and decided to take her to urgent care. We got to urgent care and they told us to take her to Texas Children's because she was too small for them to help.

We got to Texas Children's and were admitted right away. It took three of us to hold her down to get x-rays and then we waited. In the meantime we were told not to let her have anything to eat or drink because she might have to have surgery. Let me tall you this Momma was a mess! Finally the on call doctor came in and told us that there was so much swelling and fluid on the x-rays that she had for sure fractured it and most likely broken it. The doctor decided to put a splint on. Without going into details Mackenzie was screaming like I have never seen her scream and I thought I was going to throw up from seeing her in so much pain. We got to go home with a splint, a sling, and pain meds.

From Saturday afternoon till we got to the pediatric orthopedic Monday morning Mackenzie was in a lot of pain and did not sleep much. Monday morning when we saw Dr. Davino (the BEST!) he confirmed that her arm was definitely broken. The cast guy Orlando (who was awesome too!) took the splint off with Dr. Davino watching and when they got it off her arm was soooo swollen and you could immediately tell it was broken. It looked terrible! Not only was it massively swollen they doctor at Texas Children's had put the splint on wrong! Dr. Davino said that the splint was probably the cause of most of her pain. The cast guy put her pretty hot pink cast on with lime green hearts.

One day later you can already tell she is feeling MUCH better! That was our first ER trip with a kid and let me tell you it was not fun. I do not want to repeat that. This Mommy was/is recovering from the sleepless weekend of being scared and tired and crying and sick to my stomach and upset. SO glad it is over!

Thank you Lord for protecting my baby girl! Thank you that it was just her arm and not her head. Thank you for being with us in the emergency room. Thank you that even through the chaos you were all over the situation. Thank you for loving my sweet girl way more than I could ever imagine. Thank you for Your mighty hand of protection that is over us all. I love you.

Thankful Saturday Morning Coffee

Sitting here on a beautiful Saturday morning having coffee with my hubby and watch our beautiful girls play. I am reminded of how much I have to be thankful for this morning and I am overwhelmed at God's hand in my life. I have two beautiful girls inside and out, a husband and father who is a Godly man and leader of our home, my dream job being able to stay home with our girls, I could go on and on. I am specifically thankful for my job this morning.

Thank you Lord for my dream job. Thank you for my husband who sees and believes the value of being a stay at home mom and makes sacrifices so that I am able to stay home. Thank you Lord that You are with me while I am the chef and the maid, when I am loving and disciplining, when I am the chauffeur, when I am a mom and a wife, and especially as I take on the new role of teacher as we begin our homeschool journey. Thank you for being with me because I could not do this all without you. Lord lead me and give me wisdom in my journey to be a Proverbs 31 wife.
